Winter concerts!

Hello all!

There are 2 winter concerts coming up for the Gravenstein Union School District.

On Thursday, December 13th at 5:30pm, the Hillcrest band program will be performing.

On Tuesday, December 18th at 5pm, the Gravenstein Elementary music/band program will be performing.

Analy Fall Festival Information

Hello all!

The 7th and 8th grade bands have been confirmed for the Analy Fall Festival for Saturday, October 27th. This event is a great opportunity for the students to perform works for collegiate band directors, who in turn provide feedback to the bands. 

Below are links for information regarding times, concert dress, and other details for each band.

Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the bands perform. I also will need some parent help with the bowties and cummerbunds immediately before and after the event.

Jazz Band Announcement

I am very excited to announce a great opportunity for the Hillcrest Jazz Band!

On Thursday, November 8th, the jazz band will be attending the 1st ever SSU Jazz Day. This event, hosted by the Sonoma State University Jazz Department, is a music festival with a focus on education. There will be high school and middle school jazz bands from all across Sonoma county attending. This will be an all day field trip.

 In the morning, all of the students attending will be split up into their instrument sections and will have a master class with the respective SSU Jazz Faculty. After lunch, each band will have a 45 time slot to perform inside the newly opened Weill Hall at the Green Music Center. During this time slot, the faculty jazz professors will offer tips and suggestions to the band and its individual players. After a break, the students will have the opportunity to attend the SSU Faculty Jazz concert that evening for free.

I believe this is one of the best opportunities a jazz band of any level can be a part of, and I'm very excited to take the band to this festival.

I will need parent drivers, so please email me if you are available. There will be about 32 Hillcrest students attending the event.

Calendar Update

The Analy Fall Festival is NOT the last weekend of September, it is the last weekend in OCTOBER (the 25th and 26th). In the past, the bands have performed on Friday afternoon/evening and I am in the process of reserving a similar time slot for our bands.

More information will be posted on the web page and sent home when the date gets confirmed.
